The Esc key often cancels out of things the command-period keyboard shortcut dates WAY back, and almost universally activates the 'cancel' button in any dialogue, in any program.It's so universal that I'm caught off-guard on the extremely rare occasions it doesn't work.Example: Command-period will close any drop-down or pop-up window generated by TextWrangler, including the large 'find' dialogue, despite that dialogue not even having a 'close' or 'cancel' button apart from the top left corner.
